EXPERIMENTAL PIECE: CRACKLE PASTE
I haven't yet decided what to paint on this canvas. I was thinking bird silhouettes, or at least something silhouette related. I will definately glaze the surface once I'm done to give it a high gloss definition. The piece is really dull and chalky with out finishing it with gloss. I was planning to do two pieces...who knows...perhaps I may go large scale! My problem right now...I'm eager to try new forms of medium, but I can't seem to finish each project before moving on to the next! I really need to focus! I am already thinking about doing a similar series in sepia tones!

ABSTRACT ART
Here is the latest piece I am working on - a work in progress...It's my first abstract piece, and it's made of three 16x20 canvases! The medium is clear tar gel, acrylic paint squeezed from a small squeeze tube...I like this piece because it gives me a break from when I am creating fine detailed drawings. I feel that with this piece I am able to just go with it with not much thought...each curve and bend are placed randomly, but I noticed the longer I view the abstract lines the more I start to see images and figures emerge...Above, I see a terrace overlooking a garden...at the bottom of the garden I see an arch way and cobble steps leading downward to the bottom of a hill. At the bottom of the hill there is a cave where an Aztec Warrior was buried.
When I started working on this, occassionally, I would pull away and view the image from a distance...I noticed that the lines and figures resemble a mix of First Nations, Aztec and Chinese art. I like the mix of all three influences as art transcends through time and place...Art is always evolving and ideas are always being worked and reworked. In the end no matter what influence...art is art...it tells a story...

CLASS MURAL
This is my latest image I am working on - a work in progress..This piece is one of 21 images I am to complete to show off the students in my class, Division 1! I am super
excited to complete all the students' images, although many of them say the images look nothing at all like themselves! I have taken a two month break from this project, but should start this up in time for the students' graduation ceremony in late June!
It is always fun to see how interested the students are when they see me work on the mural in the classroom! I would love to have them play an active involvement in shading and outlining!
